Public (Free) Walking Tours.

Southampton City Council sponsors STGA to provide free tours to local and visiting members of the public, every Sunday and Bank Holiday Monday including New Years Day and Boxing Day. Frequency of these tours varies during the year to reflect seasonal demand and are shown on our STGA Calendar.

Free walks are limited to individuals and groups of up to 8 people. Groups above this size will need to book a chargeable Private Guided Tour.

All public morning tours start at 10:30a.m. from the south (High Street) side of Southampton’s Bargate - the medieval northern gateway to the town - and encompass the western and most historically intact side of the town, to the theme: Medieval Walls and Vaults.  The annual exception to this takes place throughout August, when different themed afternoon tours are on offer to members of the public at 2:30 p.m.

Our guides can easily be spotted as they will be wearing a Blue or Green Badge, identifying them as Tourist Guides.
